I bought a used mini-disc recorder (Sony MZ-R700pc) and when I put a new Sony MD in it, it says “Protected”?

when I press record.

there is a tiny switch on md recordable discs, move the switch you might need to use a pen or something as the switch is tiny. The switch should be on the side of the disk, it might say something like “write/protect”. Move the switch across and then you will be able to record.
